In 1987, Matthias Rust, a 17-year-old West German, flew alone to Moscow after being disappointed by the result of the US–Soviet summit. Upon his return to Germany, Rust told ARD that it was to “build an imaginary bridge between the West and the East.” The installation consists of a timeline detailing Rust's flight path and surrounding events, along with a scale model of the Cessna 172 and a satellite image of Kim Il Sung square in North Korea.
